The garden tea that was rained out last week really spurred me on to spruce up my back yard.
Two weeks earlier, we rolled out new sod.
The plan was to have 12 artists on the lawn displaying their paintings.
Let's just say, Dexter had done a number on the grass, so I decided to replace it.
I also bought ten white azaleas, four Spanish lavenders and six white mums for color.
They replaced the dead and ratty lavender and geraniums that had been there way too long.
The hummingbirds love the new French lavender I planted in the front window boxes.
Even though my guests didn't get to hang out in my backyard, I ended up with a fresh, new space to enjoy anyway. Even on a gray day!
As you can see, Butter Kitty loves the new plants.

new gardens leave such satisfaction for the hard work put out. beautiful
White is just the most amazing colour for the garden. That beautiful glow that comes off of it as evening rolls in is magical.
Up here in BC we are used to having our best laid plans rained out.
What a lovely garden!
FYI Azeleas are problematic for cats. They can cause incoordination, trembling, collapse
Your new plantings look lovely. Funny how much joy fresh plantings and new grass can give. We just replaced our sod last month...hooray.

Everything looks so fresh and lush, just beautiful. Everything you touch always seems to become more special and beautiful!!! You have the magic touch Miss D!! xo Kathysue
Just about the prettiest garden I've seen in a while! Thanks for sharing it with us. I love how the white makes the other colors pale in comparison! Have a great weekend! Hugs
We have hummingbirds also: love to watch them at work! I just put a bird bath in the garden and am wondering if they will "pause" to take a drink?
Love how simply changing plants can transform a whole space. The new sod looks terrific too. So sad the ladies didn't get to come and enjoy your beautiful spaces.. xo marlis
This is exactly what we need to do in MANY areas of our yard! It looks beautiful, Delores. XO, Pinky
The garden looks fabulous, Delores.
Best...Victoria
I'm loving the lavender. Anything that attracts butterflies is okay by me, and it smells good, too!
Love everything you did. Great shot of the hummingbird.
Oh so pretty!! I love the Spanish lavender..even in Oklahoma I can grow it, sometimes it does freeze but I happily replace it! Love your white azaleas..in the evening I bet they really stand out. We were just in California and I noticed how big the hummingbirds were! So beautiful!
Miss Bloomers
love the wire sculpture - would you please share the source?
All your garden plant choices look marvelous. The white really pops! I can't grow azaleas satisfactorily- they just dwindle and get less and less pretty....but then again we get into below zero temps in the winter!
The white azaleas will look sensational next year! Love your pretty kitty!
Oh- I just love your Butter Kitty! xo Diana

Beautiful garden...and the hummingbird image is spectacular! What a lovely place for Butter Kitty to enjoy!
