Looking Up in Florence

I'm reminiscing about our time in Florence, just one year ago.
So many photos stored on my iPhoto, photos that I never shared or posted.
Like the photos here, that I took one day--walking around, looking up with my camera:

Aren't they all so beautiful? Why can't we have these wonderful embellishments on our buildings?

Thanks for taking a stroll with me down memory lane.
There is nothing like Florence in the fall, and oh how I wish I was there!

Delores, Thanks for taking that walk with you down memory lane. Florence is a BEAUTIFUL city and wish I had more time to explore when I was there. Your photos capture the true visual essence of that beautiful city!

I'm guessing these "embellishments" predate most of our buildings in the USA. Would that be correct? I am thoroughly smitten with Old World art & sensitivities. Thanks for the "stroll" and the perhaps inadvertent reminder to keep looking up)!

Delores, your images are gorgeous and crystal clear. I agree, the embellishments on the buildings in Europe are incredible. Thanks for looking up...........Sarah

A whole city from which to choose...and you and I photographed the same things!

I just got my big computer back where I downloaded most of my photos and am excited to "re-live" Italy now that we are home.

Oh, and I love that Joni/CTD featured you!!!! You are SO deserving!!!!

Love/hugs/blessings,
Lana

Beautiful!! I always love all the architectural details. I just returned from London and definitely appreciated all the history and heritage evident in the buildings!

*** Beautiful photos, D! Anyone who has been there, and sees these photos, cannot HELP but want to return and walk the cobblestone "streets of romance" and yes, "look up"!

We had the two husbands, of two girlfriends, over for dinner last night, as the gals have been travelling all around Italy for about two weeks now... (and I figured it was time to feed the guys a "real meal"!)... During the evening the gals called & sounded soooo happy, & are having SOOOO much fun seeing everything... They joked that as much as they adore each other, it might be better NEXT time, to make sure they include the GUYS, cuz it IS so romantic! We got a good chuckle out of that!

I STILL can't doing any big travelling for at least another year, due to the leftover problems/issues when I broke my back, but oh! How I WISH I were there with them!!!

Enjoyed special memories tho, seeing these photos this a.m... THANK YOU!!!

Breathtaking images Delores! I'm definitely inspired for another visit. Next year(May) I turn 50 and get to pick the European destination to celebrate. Italy is one of the stops but only Rome and Positano. I am gonna have to squeeze Florence in there even if its just a day trip.

xoxo

Oh I love Florence! I have spent many enjoyable vacations there and loved every minute! I cannot wait to go back. One of the best parts about Florence is that you can walk every where. It is a small and accessable city and has something for everyone.

Thank you for sharing your photos! I know what you mean when you say the images are trapped on your computer...not like the old days when we would get the phtots back from the processing place and re live the trip.

Take care, have a great day!
Elizabeth

Delores,
Of all the cities I have visited, my favorite is Firenze. The art, the architecture, the gardens, the churches, the food. Have I mentioned the food??? And, last but not least, the Ponte Vecchio and all the beautiful leather goods and jewelry, hand crafted as it has been for centuries.

Virtually every church holds world-class artwork for all to see by the likes of Michelangelo, Giotto, della Robbia and many other Renaissance painters and sculptors.

You are right, Delores, a visit to Firenze is never long enough.

Did I mention the food?

Best...Victoria
