Ever since my Grandma Carrie gave me her bee skep honey pot, I've had a thing for bees, honey and skeps.
That was 30 years ago!
I've collected quite a few of these little pots since then, but lately I want the real thing.
A real bee skep for the garden.
I found this bee skep basket at a thrift store last year and left it to patina outside all winter.
I would love more but they are hard to find, especially antique skeps.
But I think new skeps would be better in the garden as decoration anyway.
After doing a Google search for skeps, I found and purchased this one from Susan Branch. Obviously not an antique, however it is 16" tall and for $37, a bargain.
I can't wait to get it!
Origin Crafts also has a collection of new skeps for sale. The one on the right is $35.90.
Perfect for that English country garden look.
I'm loving these French bee skeps too, found on Pinterest.
Bee skeps indoors would be great too.
I've had this photo in my inspiration file because of the glass front refrigerator, but just realized that the pendants are bee skeps! Very cute!
I can just see a skep on my kitchen island or even as a centerpiece.
In fact, it would be very fun to create a tablescape with my honeypots and an antique bee skep in the middle of the table. The possibilities are endless!
Bee skeps. Just one more thing to collect!

oh my gosh! how I love bees and all they imply...love LOVE this post. I was telling my sister about you yesterday...your posts are always amazing!
I love your collection. I like using them outside in the garden as well.
I had a Grandma Carrie. (Carrie Faye) I now have a DIL named Carrie. It's a sweet name. Most people wouldn't think of it as an olden name but it is.
I just recently bought a bee skep and have yet to place it in my garden. I'm going to go out and do it now - thanks for the inspiration.
i am loving bee skeps too. i think i found my new item to collect.
You definitely have the most interesting and beautiful collections and learn something each time I visit...thank you...they are all so magnificent!
I have a tropical garden, so bee skeps outdoors would not work for me (although I love the look), but I adore your porcelain bee skep pitchers. Those I could happily find a home for.
Best...Victoria
Delores,
These are so great. I had one but it rotted over time...that would not deter me from finding another and using it in the garden this year. Thanks for the leads as to where I can purchase one. Love your collection of ceramic skeps as well.

I adore bee skeps and honeypots! One of your previous posts inspired me to start collecting vintage pots. I recently purchased a new skep at my favorite craft market..it's will be perfect for a bee inspired natural tablescape. I would love to put a larger one in the garden. I love the skeps you purchased from Susan Branch!

♥♥♥ I saw a couple when I was in Carmel and thought how fun they were, after talking to you the other day, I wish I had purchased them. I really think they are going to be wonderful in your yard. I love how you introduce us to fun, new things!! You are always an inspiration, xo Kathysue
Delores, I have a few bee skeps for honey, but don't have any for the garden. That is a wonderful idea. I do have bees in my garden. It makes me happy to see them buzzing about. Thanks for the links. I'm going to check these out. ~ Sarah
Have you seen the film Queen of the Sun, Delores, about raising bees? I think you would find it fascinating! My brother has bees... there is a tradition that if anything important happens, you need to tell the bees, sounds like traditional therapy!
I love how those were used! Too bad that I sold one many years ago that I didn't have a place for. I wish I had kept it now.
I love your collection, Delores! Beautiful! Lovely inspiration photos also!

Bee skeps are like a magnet to me! I just love their form and the idea of keeping bees. Thanks for doing the leg work... I'm running over to Susan Branch right now! Beautiful pictures!
