Plaid, The Quintessential Christmas Pattern

Imagine my excitement when I finally got to put these little plaid lampshades on the living room sconces!
I purchased them from Joss and Main a few months ago.  They are the quintessential Christmas accessory!

Even though I'm a plaid lover, I love it even more at Christmas.

I've slowly been bringing plaid in to the living room.
Our house has always seemed like a Christmas house, so there isn't a whole lot to do, other than add tartan, greenery and seasonal plants.

The tartan tole vase will eventually have paperwhites in them.
If I can find them!

For me, decorating takes most of the month!
I'm just getting started!

I'm joining Sherry at No Minimalist Here for Open House Thursday.
I'm joining Courtney for Feathered Nest Friday at French Country Cottage.

I'm on a paperwhite hunt too Delores - flowers and candles and greenery are going to be my only seasonal decoration this year. Maybe they are late this year?

Love the plaid! I used to spend three weeks decorating as well. I have finally succomed to simplifying with two houses! I admire your energy! Can't wait to see the rest. The flower mart has tons of paperwhites and amaryllis this time of year! I am going tomorrow. Email me if you want a report! Thank you for sending the recipes by the way I am trying the kale salad next week!

I love plaid and I love your new lampshades Delores! I just bought plaid placemats for our kitchen table. Think they'll be staying on even after Christmas!

The perfect touch on this gorgeous sconce. I'm much like you with decorating. I linger and enjoy the process. I set a transitional table last night that I'll share next week. Then it's on to Christmas themes for me. Thanks for the tartan treat! ~ Sarah

I love the plates in the hutch. I hope your redesign doesn't include removing them. Perhaps adding equally delightful glasses will do the trick.

My Christmas decorating is a slow process also these days. When I was younger I got it all done in a day! I have all the main floor finished. Pretty simple this year, I didn't drag EVERYTHING out. I've been putting the tree in the basement family room the past few years. It allows everyone to kind of spread out at gift opening time and the mess isn't such a big deal. Also, I kind of love going down there and turning off all the lights to watch TV by the twinkle of the tree:) I've added some plaid to my Christmas decorating this year also. I've gone for a little more rustic/lodge look. More trees, pinecones and greenery and a few less Santas although I haven't eliminated them. I still love my Santas, I just didn't get EVERY one out. I can't wait to see all you do this year, it's always such an inspiration!

Looking fabulous, Delores! I used to have a plaid wool Christmas tree skirt. It got destroyed by moths over the years :(
Panda and Mocha (our TTs) send hugs!

Hi Delores: I love plaid too. Your home looks so pretty and I feel envious that all you have to do is add plaid and you have a "Christmas House". It looks wonderful. Thank you for coming by the Cottage and leaving such sweet comments. I look forward to seeing more of your home..Happy Thursday..Judy

Our houses always remind me a lot of each other! I love plaid and have always felt that my house lends itself very easily to Christmas decorating! I've never gotten tired of it either! Loved this post!

I have softer pastel colors throughout my home (my mom's home - the one I grew up in - has colors that are spectacularly similar to yours! =]) and my living room is a lavender/blue (I call it lavender - others see blue) and red plaid goes beautifully in it at Christmas time! It's quite a wonderfully festive punch! but I've only ever used the plaid in pillows. I was looking through one of my UK home magazines and saw a new purple plaid/tartan fabric from Laura Ashley and have had this wild idea to put something like that up for curtains on our bay window for winter (we need the extra warmth, that's for sure.) OR, another thought I had was to make gray plaid flannel curtains. I might be crazy! I'm shoppping around! ;)
