The Circus Tent Bedroom

There are two bedrooms in the main house at our home in the wine country.
This is one of them, complete with upholstered walls in a playful stripe fabric.

The previous owner upholstered the walls of both bedrooms and the sitting room. It gives these rooms literally a quiet and calm feel.

Looking up at the unusual shaped ceiling, you can see why this reminds me of a circus tent!

This bedroom belonged to their little boy. I decided to keep the stripe fabric and just work with it. I kept the bedding neutral and picked up the colors with the floral duvet.

One of my "favorite things" is this antique seagrass table next to the bed. We found it at an antique store in Sebastopol.

Both bedrooms in the house are en suite.

I like this little bathroom. There is only room for one person, but it packs a punch with the large subway tile and black granite accents. The shower curtain is terry cloth.

This is usually where our overnight guests sleep as it's fun sleeping in this room with the "circus tent theme."

I'm linking up to Laurie at Bargain Hunting with Laurie for Favorite Things Saturday.
Thank you Laurie for hosting!
Have a great weekend everyone!

I love the circus tent feeling in the bedroom...I acutally have a page ripped out of an Anthropologie catalog of a vintage looking tent...it's pinned to my inspiration board...and I love it.

Another room where I'd love to be a guest. Love the tent feel, and I'm so glad you kept that wallpaper. (What a job that must have been to wallpaper that ceiling like that!) Your bedside tables are perfect, and I love your marble lamps. You are so good to faithfully link to Favorite Things, and I am always so honored to have your posts as part of Fav. Things. laurie

.......what fun to be your guest under the big top Delores! A lovely room and stripes are perfect for the ceiling shape. Love the table too.

I'm still busy posting about Africa, only halfway done - in my mind I'm still on safari and need to get it all written down and photos added so I have something to always return to (along with my journal notes).

Love the new photo for your header - such a peaceful spot. Enjoy.

What a huge undertaking that wall treatment must have been. It is lined up so perfectly.
You have elevated it way past the circus tent status.

When the room is unfurnished all of those stripes at different angles could be unsettling but you have really made it all work. Lovely, really.

Hi Delores!

The furnishings look great with the stripes. Fabulous job. Such a beautiful guest accommodations would make it very hard for me to want to leave. Thank you for the kind words on my table scape. We were at the Haight street fair today which was a lot of fun. However, I am so happy to be back home.

To answer a few questions about my sources: I found the duvet cover at Tuesday Morning several years ago. The tan shams are Ralph Lauren, found at either TJ Maxx or Marshall's. The cream matelasse coverlet and shams, as well as the headboard lamp are a recent find from Tuesday Morning. The painting is a vintage oil. All the other accessories such as the alabaster lamps and candleholder, shell book ends and box are vintage.
