Since spring weather is just around the corner, my Tuesday Inspiration is porches and sunrooms.
Imagine sitting out on the front porch on this fabulous stripe sofa. Upholstered in outdoor fabric, no doubt. This is a fresh take on the "all American front porch!"
Traditionally, wicker furniture is what you expect to see on the front porch, along with tall glasses of iced tea.
Or tall glasses of lemonade!
This back porch is screened in and the perfect place for a meal.
Pure Americana!
I love this screened in room. All of these images seem like they are in the South.
Especially, the screened in porches.
This porch has been enclosed and now should be called a sunroom.
Similar to mine, which was at one time an outside porch, but enclosed at some time in the 40's.
The beadboard ceiling gives it away!
I love this light filled sunroom, although it needs a few more touches.
These rooms tend to be long an narrow. Just line up the rockers and look outside!
Porch or balcony, I love it either way. Love the old wicker and wood--unexpected in a tropical setting like this. Can't you just feel the warm breeze?
I couldn't help think of Susan's famous porch from Between Naps on the Porch.
This room gets a lot of use, from naps to tablescapes!
Another famous porch is Joy's from Savvy City Farmer. Afterall, it was featured in Fifi O'Neill's "Romantic Prairie Style" that I just received in the mail yesterday!
I love the natural beadboard ceiling and curtains!
My upstairs balcony looks out to the front yard and feels very much like a porch.
It is need of some TLC right now with all the rain we've had.
My sunroom.
You can tell it was once a porch because of the beadboard ceiling and because it steps down from the rest of the house. I'm planning a few changes in here. Because it steps down, I'm installing wall to wall seagrass and getting rid of the rug. The family room sofa will move in here and possibly a vintage trunk.
I planned on sharing photos of some of my favorite porches in my community, but ran out of time. I'm on my way to New York tomorrow for our annual girlfriend trip. So when I return, I will share my favorite porches and shingle houses that inspire me from my neighborhood.

Doesn't it make you wonder sometimes why a porch (which is so often an add-on) is the most delightful and restful room in the house?
Oh, I loved looking at all the porches and sun rooms. Your sun room is gorgeous! I have a little sun porch, as I call it, although it doesn't get a lot of sun! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Beautiful pictures Delores!! I just LOVE your sunroom it belongs in a Country French magazine!! Martina
Love the photos -- I miss my sunroom -- cannot wait to build another. Have fun on your trip!
Your sunroom is to die for, I wouldn't change a thing, but that's just me. I am excited also about spring this year, because my new OLD house has a small screen porch, which is where I will be spending ALL of my free time. Thanks for sharing this post with us. Gives me hope that better weather is on the way and I will soon get to enjoy my little porch.
I adore porches and the ones you posted are fabulous. I did a porch post last week.. I think every home should have a porch or sunroom or BOTH...
thanks for the inspiration.
Oh gee, I love your sunporch the way it is right now but I'm sure it will look fantastic with the changes too. If I lived a little closer, I would take that sofa and rug off your hands if you're getting rid of them.....:)
This is a perfectly timed post....am looking for "all weather" wicker and having touble finding white! Love the idea of a roomy look to a porch. You always have the best ideas.
Thanks for sharing...Gwen
OH! I love your sunporch.
Can't wait to see what you do with the upstairs balcony.

i think your sunporch was my very favorite. Don't make too many changes. :)
girlie, I can't hold a candle to yours ... all I can do is claim Fifi for her ingenious concept behind that book.
Your home is divine, eery nook, a delight.
It was hard to see this post because my Hubs threw away 2 white wicker rockers that set out on our deck. He thought they were getting old...I thought they were just becoming perfect...I still can't believe he did that..he hates wicker for some reason and I love it.
your sunroom looks fabulous now, I'm sure it will WOW us to see what your changes will be.....

Love your balcony and the beautiful sun room you have! Everything is beautiful, I bet you'll do a great job with your changes as you are one talented lady! I wanted to be a follower, but I had already, I'd be so proud to be yours.
GM D, Love a porch of any kind. I enjoy sitting out on my litte porch in the Spring and Summer, It is one of the nicest parts of my day. All of these are so wonderful and I do love yours, it just looks like the kind of room you want to cozy in and have a cup of tea and a wonderful conversation with a friend, xo Kathysue
Delores,
Adored all the lovely porches...recognized Susan's right away! I'd love a sunroom. Everytime we do the Parade of Homes tours..I gravitate to the ones with sunrooms! One can dream!
Fondly,
Pat
O, I love all these porches...I get so many good ideas and photos from you. I wish I had a beautiful sunroom but, alas, only a narrow front porch.
Have fun in NYC
Those were all great porches! I love yours, it's cozy and attractively decorated! Have fun in New York!
I most loved the porch overlooking the beauty of the sea. You can both see the beauty of the sea, land and air. Great Photo.
I had to fight to get my wrap around porch, but it was worth the battle. I have all white wicker, and I should have stock in Krylon! It is the best to give it a spruce up after washing every year, which is a must.
People keep dropping off white wicker for me, when they see it going for a song. I guess everyone is switching to the plastic kind, but I like the old fashioned. Lots of upkeep, but so much prettier, imho! :)
Your sunroom is lovely! I
I am intrigued by that striped sofa. Even if it is weatherproof fabric, I wonder if it gets moldy as it is directly in the elements?
These are all so stylish! I just added canopy covers to our backyard style.
Do you recall where you got the photo of the sunporch with the wooden sleeping cot? I'm looking for something like that and I'd love to know the source information. Thanks!
