The Olive Branch

The olive branch has long been a symbol of peace and goodwill.
We've all heard the expression, "extending the olive branch," used when extending an offer of peace or reconciliation.

In Asti, we have many olive branches, many olive trees that give me a sense of peace when I look at them.
I never tire of their simple beauty.

Aren't they just magnificent?
They provide us with their wonderful fruit and if that's not enough, we then get to enjoy the most delicious oil too!

I like to cut the branches to bring inside...

...for casual autumn arrangements.

I think the olive branch, a symbol of peace, also represents fall in all its glory, don't you?

This year, I'm planning to make an olive branch wreath for late fall and into the holiday season like this one from Pottery Barn.
I'll let you know how it turns out!

I'm joining Kim at Savvy Southern Style for Wow Us Wednesday.

LOVE olive trees and their bounty! After living in Morocco for 3 years I'm trying to figure out how to have my very own olive tree at our newly built home in South Carolina. But, alas, I'm not hearing very positive feedback on the success of a transplant. :(

Delores, your olive tree bouquets are so beautiful in your gorgeous pots. We had two olive trees at our home in Soquel many years ago. I love their graceful foliage. I am going to be in SF this weekend. My daughter and I do the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. She is a 10 year survivor and this is our 10 year doing the walk..Happy Tuesday..Judy

Delores,
What a nice way to celebrate the olive tree!
They really are lovely trees.

My new neighbor has them in his side years, and I will have two in my front yard, with white iceberg roses beneath them.

Your olive branch wreath will be beautiful!

I love olive trees. They remind me of Italy and France. I wish I could grow them here. Looking forward to seeing your wreath when you make it.

Those olive branches are gorgeous! I've never seen one in "real life". They look similar to stalks of rosemary!

Delores, I am looking forward to seeing the olive branch wreath you create! I am always attracted to olive decor, on dishes or carvings or even fabrics. And the fall is definitely olive season. I even order my Bramasole olive oil this month. Linda
