Got Dishes?

At Fishs Eddy in NYC, I met my match! Never have I seen so many dishes before!
It was overwhelming, to say the least. Just take it all in:

They even have "floor plan" dishes!

I can imagine a very creative tablescape with these plates.
However, I walked out without buying a thing!

Then, at ABC Carpet and Home, we saw this wall!

It is so dramatic in person, especially on the black wall. We were told that it only took an hour to hang all these plates!
I recognized quite a few plates from my own collection!

Fishs Eddy has a website where most of their dishes can be purchased and shipped. Uh Oh!
Their "Diner Whites" are now on sale at 25% off. Check it out!

Never seen that many dishes in my life. I wonder if they ever have trouble with any of those plate towers smashing to the ground. I would be afraid to move in that place. I love the plate wall, and it took ONLY an hour to hang them all. Wonder how many people they had helping, lol!!

The ABC plate wall IS very dramatic with the mixed transferware patterns.. Love it but I wonder just how many people it took to hang all those plates in just an hour.

I would like an hour or three to browse there.

Love the wall at ABC!

There used to be a warehouse store in Syracuse (all that great Syracuse China)where you could pick through piles of "seconds" and sometimes find six or eight of the same pattern for fifty cents a piece! The table of cake pedestals would stop me in my tracks. My next stop is to their website to see how much the floor plan plates are. Love them!!!

Delores, I always had fun going into Fish Eddy's. It is an amazing assortment of dishware. A lot of it seemed to be more restaurant style to me. But that was years ago when I was last there. Thanks for sharing more of your photos. Fun to get to go along on your NYC trip.

I want those cake stands!!! One in every color please.
Looking at all of those plates, all I could think of was all the dusting that would need to be done and then inventory crossed my mind. Super cool store though.

Love Fish's Eddy and I always find something to buy... in fact, that entire area of town has so many treasures. Did you make it to Paper Presentation on W. 18th? One of my most favorite.

I would go crazy there...it's a good thing that I live far, far away! But you can bet I'll be there next time I am in NYC! :)

In the Fishs store, all I see is utilitarian restaurant/hotel ware made of ceramics or pottery. I don't see any porcelain or bone china. I would like to point out that 10-12 ceramic plates weigh 26-30 pounds. I counted 40 plates in one stack which has no separators. That would be about 120 pounds of pressure on the plates at the bottom of those stacks. I would not buy any of them. The worst thing you can do to your dishes is stack them. Fishs should know better. Their glassware patterns are reproductions we've all seen a million times. The ABC plates on the wall looked like antique transferware. I'd like to get a closer look at those.

I absolutely love Fishs Eddy. It's the kind of store you're surprised to find in NYC, but pleasantly surprised!

Both places are always on my agenda, whenever I'm in NYC. That wall of plates is amazing! How could they have created that in one hour???

I missed Fishs Eddy store last visit but hope to go next time I'm in town! Of course flying home with a ton of china is not going to work though!
Glad you managed to see so many great stores - sorry you had chilly weather.
I bet the tartan parade was amazing today - and those tartan dresses are gorgeous.

We used to have a Fish's Eddy right here in Southampton, NY. Such unique things! They didn't make it though, so they closed down.
I was scrolling through your pics and I knew it was FE just looking at the pics!
